Legend: A wave of calcium release induced by ionotophoretic application of aspartate. Images were collected at 15 frames/s. The first seven frames are control, on frame eight the onset of calcium release is observed at the site where aspartate is applied (Figure 1). This wave of calcium release progresses throughout the cell over a period of two-three seconds.
