- Supplementary Figure 1
-
Double-label immunostaining with anti-b-gal (green) and anti-MBH1 (red) antibodies of the E12.5 spinal cord of the MBH1/lacZ transgenic mouse. The anti-MBH1 antibody was raised in rabbits using the C-terminal peptide of the MBH1 protein and affinity-purified.
Scale bars: A, 100 micrometer; B, 50 micrometer.
- Supplementary Figure 2
-
Comparison of b-gal+ cells with expression of some homeodomain transcription factors. Transverse sections of the MBH1/lacZ transgenic embryo at E10.5 were stained with antibodies against the b-gal protein (green) and the transcription factors (red): (A), LH2A/B; (B), Isl1; (C), Lim1/2. Scale bar: (in A) 100 micrometer.
- Supplementary Figure 3

. b-gal+ axons were labeled with markers of commissural neurons. Transverse sections of the E11.5 spinal cord of the MBH1/lacZ transgenic mouse were immunostained with anti-b-gal (green) and anti-TAG-1 (red in A) or anti-DCC (red in B) antibodies.
Scale bar: (in A) 100 micrometer.
- Supplementary Figure 4
-
. Coexpression of the EYFP and MBH1 proteins. A transverse section of the spinal cord was immunostained using anti-MBH1 (red) and anti-GFP (green in B) antibodies, one day after transfection with EYFP and MBH1 at E11.5. Scale bar: (in A) 100 micrometer.
- Supplementary Figure 5
-
Induction of DCC expression by misexpression of MBH1. A transverse section of the spinal cord was immunostained using anti-DCC (red) and anti-GFP (green in B) antibodies, one day after transfection with EYFP and MBH1 at E11.5. Right side was transfected. Scale bars: 100 micrometer.
- Supplementary Figure 6

Misexpression of MATH1 and LH2B. Transverse sections of the spinal cord, two days after electroporation with MATH1 (A) and LH2B (B) into the E11.5 mouse embryo. Right sides were transfected. The two genes are coexpressed with EYFP using the double CAG vector, pCAG-EYFP-CAG. Whereas misexpression of MATH1 generated more EYFP+ commissural axons, misexpression of LH2B did not. Scale bar (in A): 100 micrometer.
