  • Supplemental Fig. 1 - Supplemental Figure 1. A model for rapid axoglial signaling between NRG and neurotrophic factors. In this model, neurotrophic factors secreted by Schwann cells bind to and activate their specific receptors on the adjacent axon membrane. In response, the neurons rapidly release NRG, which can bind to and activate erbB receptors on the nearby Schwann cell membrane. This reciprocal signaling system may be important for the formation of the matched axoglial connections during development.
