Extreme Stretch Growth of Integrated Axons
J. Neurosci. Pfister et al. 24: 7978

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Supp Figure 1: The Axon Elongation Device. System consists of a custom designed axon expansion chamber, linear motion table, microstepper motor, and controller (not shown). The expansion chamber is a sealed enclosure with a removable axon stretching frame and gas exchange port. Entire system fits within a typical CO2 incubator.
  • supplemental material - Supp Figure 2: Extreme Axon Stretch-Growth. (a) Dorsal root ganglion were plated on two adjacet membranes and 5 days was allowed for axons to grow across the interface. (b) and (c) Axons were stretched by gradually separating the two interconnected neuron populations apart.
