Isolation of a Novel Platelet-Derived Growth Factor-Responsive Precursor from the Embryonic Ventral Forebrain
J. Neurosci. Chojnacki and Weiss 24: 10888

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Supplementary Figure 1.  A schematic representation of the self-renewal and differentiation properties of E14 ventral forebrain PRPs.  NSCs generate PRPs that require both PDGF and FGF signalling to activate the SHH pathway for their continued expansion.  After expansion, levels of OLIG expression as well as the environment determine the fate of PRPs.  High levels of OLIG expression, maintained by T3, support oligodendroglial differentiation, whereas decreasing levels of OLIG2 expression in the presence of BMP or BMP and CNTF signalling promote the generation of neurons and astrocytes, respectively.
