Supplementary Figure 1: Anatomy of muscle end plates. A transgenic
animal expressing the C50F7.1::gfp reporter construct (a gift from A.S.
Wenick) is shown. This reporter is expressed in a single bilaterally
symmetric group of body wall muscle cells in the mid-body region, thus
allowing to visualize muscle arm structure. Expression is also observed
in a subset of ventral nerve cord axons. Note the muscle arms extending
into the VNC, where they branch. Similar observations have been made by
electron microscopy (D.H.Hall, pers.comm.).
