Homeostatic Scaling of Vesicular Glutamate and GABA Transporter Expression in Rat Neocortical Circuits
J. Neurosci. De Gois et al. 25: 7121

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Supplemental Figure 9. Developmental expression of VGLUT1 and VGLUT2 in rat brain sections by 35S-labeled probes. False colored images of emulsion-dipped autoradiograms of adjacent coronal sections of rat brain during the first two weeks of postnatal development (P0, P4, P7, P10, P14) that were hybridized with 35S-labeled riboprobes specific for rat VGLUT2 (left) and VGLUT1 (right). Probes were labeled to similar specific activities. Exposure time: VGLUT2=38hr; VGLUT1=4hr. Note the VGLUT1 mRNA expression is higher in neocortical regions at all developmental times. Also note that while VGLUT2 mRNA levels are highest in neocortex and hippocampus at P10 they are considerably lower than that found in VGLUT2 encoded neurons in diencephalic regions (eg. thalamus). Scale bar=10mm.
