Involvement of Matrix Metalloproteinase in Neuroblast Cell Migration from the Subventricular Zone after Stroke
J. Neurosci. Lee et al. 26: 3491

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Supplementary Figure S1. The caveat remains that MMP inhibition may suppress neuroinflammation and indirectly dampen the endogenous neuroblast response in ways that are independent of cell migration events. The literature suggests that for rodent stroke models, inflammation tends to peak between 2-3 days. Our 2 wk measurements in the present study may occur at a time when inflammation is no longer a dominant event. Furthermore, at 2 weeks post-stroke, there were no clear differences in microglia distributions (CD11b stains) in control stroke rat brains versus those subjected to MMP inhibition. However, this is only one limited marker of inflammation. It remains possible that other inflammatory events are altered by MMP inhibition.
