Inclusion Body Formation and Neurodegeneration Are Parkin Independent in a Mouse Model of {alpha}-Synucleinopathy
J. Neurosci. von Coelln et al. 26: 3685

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Supplemental Figure 1: Fluoro Jade B staining in pathologically affected regions of human A53T α-synuclein transgenic mice with or without parkin colocalizes with cells that stain positive for α-synuclein and GFAP. Sagittal brain sections at the level of brain stem of mice sacrificed at the terminal stage of α-synuclein-induced disease and age-matched non transgenic mice with or without parkin were analyzed for the distribution of Fluoro Jade B, α-synuclein and GFAP. (A) Fluoro Jade B and GFAP positive cells are abundant in human A53T α-synuclein transgenic mice with or without parkin. Fluoro Jade B positive cells colocalize or are in close apposition with GFAP positive cells suggesting that reactive glia stains for Fluoro Jade B. (B) Fluoro Jade B and α-synuclein positive cells are abundant in human A53T α-synuclein transgenic mice with or without parkin. All the Fluoro Jade B positive cells colocalize with α-synuclein positive cells suggesting that neurons positive for α-synuclein inclusions stain for Fluoro Jade B (Scale bar: 20 μm).
