Plasticity-Associated Gene Krox24/Zif268 Is Required for Long-Lasting Behavioral Effects of Cocaine
J. Neurosci. Valjent et al. 26: 4956

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Supplemental material
  • supplemental material - Supplementary Figure 1. Cocaine-induced Zif268 expression is under the control of ERK. (a) Zif268 expression was analyzed by immunocytochemistry in the dorsal striatum (DStr, upper panel) and the nucleus accumbens (NAcc, lower panel) one hour after acute administration of cocaine (20 mg/kg) or its vehicle. SL327 (50 mg/kg) was administered one hour prior to cocaine (SL327 + cocaine). Scale bar 100 µm (b) Quantification of Zif268 immunoreactive cells was performed in the dorsal striatum (DStr, left panel) or the nucleus accumbens (NAcc, right panel) using an image analyzer (Image Pro Plus). Data (means ± SEM, n = 3 per group) were analyzed using one-way ANOVA: effect of treatment in the DStr F(2, 8) = 50.99, P < 0.001, and the NAcc F(2, 8) = 82.24, P < 0.001. Post hoc comparison (Newman-Keuls test), * p < 0.01, saline vs cocaine and ° p < 0.01 cocaine vs SL327 + cocaine.
