Extracellular Calcium Regulates Postsynaptic Efficacy through Group 1 Metabotropic Glutamate Receptors
J. Neurosci. Hardingham et al. 26: 6337

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Figure Legend: Reversibility of reduction in Q with lowered Ca2+ec a) The highest likelihood quantal model of a stable period of data recorded initially at 2.5mM Ca2+ec consists of a single release site with a quantal size of 512 μV and a release probability (Pr) of 0.892 (Raw data is in vertical bars, the best fit binomial models in solid lines). b) A single release site quantal model constraining Q to 512 μV is inadequate in describing the stable period of data subsequently recorded in 1 mM Ca2+ec. c) When Q is allowed to optimise, an adequate quantal model is obtained, this time deriving a Q value of 274 μV and Pr of 0.452. d) A later period of recording at 2.5 mM Ca2+ec is adequately described by a quantal model constraining Q to that initially derived at 2.5 mM Ca2+ec (512μV). e) The derived Q value at 1 mM Ca2+ec inadequately describes the data at 2.5mM Ca2+ec whilst an optimizing fit for Q (f) yields a Q value of 517μV, very close to that derived initially at 2.5 mM Ca2+ec.
