Odorant Deprivation Reversibly Modulates Transsynaptic Changes in the NR2B-Mediated CREB Pathway in Mouse Piriform Cortex
J. Neurosci. Kim et al. 26: 9548

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Supplement Figure. Immunohistochemical changes in OB and PC after permanent or reversible naris occlusion. Coronal sections of mouse brain after 10 days of permanent naris occlusion (PNO, A-H) exhibit immunoreactivity for tyrosine hydroxylase (green), c-fos (red) and nuclear counterstaining with DAPI (blue). TH-ir and c-fos-ir are substantially reduced in the deprived bulb (F) compared with the contralateral undeprived bulb (B). A dramatic reduction of c-fos-ir was found in PC (G). Reversible naris occlusion (RNO) for 5 days was followed by 10 days of recovery (Rev) after plug removal (I-T). Tyrosine hydroxylase (green) and c-fos (red) immunostained sections were counterstained with DAPI (blue). TH-ir and c-fos-ir are substantially reduced in the deprived bulb (N) compared with the contralateral undeprived bulb (J) and the reduction was reversed after 10 days of plug removal (R). The dramatic reduction of c-fos-ir in PC (O) was reversed 10 days after plug removal (S). Scale bars, 50 um.
