Vanilloid-Mediated Heterosynaptic Facilitation of Inhibitory Synaptic Input to Neurons of the Rat Dorsal Motor Nucleus of the Vagus
J. Neurosci. Derbenev et al. 26: 9666

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Figure 7 (Supplementary). Schematic model of the proposed heterosynaptic circuit activated by VR1 in the DMV. Activation of VR1 on glutamatergic terminals by capsaicin or AEA is indicated. The enhanced release of glutamate (presumably due to VR1-induced Ca2+ elevation in the terminal) binds both postsynaptic receptors on the DMV neuron and also receptors on ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors on GABAergic terminals. GABA release is enhanced subsequent to the glutamate binding to presynaptic receptors on GABA terminals.
