Supplemental Figure S1. Representative immunoblot for MBP isoforms in brain (A) of 9 month-old C57BL/6J mice and for CNPase in spinal cord (B). Specific bands at 14 kDa, 17 kDa, 18.5 kDa and 21.5 kDa for MBP and 42 kDa beta-actin were digitized and analysed using Image Quant software and the 46 kDa and 48 kDa bands for CNPase were analyzed using Adobe Photoshop.

Supplemental Figure S2. Expression of oligodendrocyte PLP and CA-II mRNAs in 9-month old C57Bl/6 mice using real-time RT-PCR. Values are normalized to an internal control, GAPDH, and represent mean ± SEM of threshold cycles values during exponential phase of four pairs of 9-month-old C57Bl/6 mice.

Supplemental Figure S3. Immunoperoxidase localization of μ-calpain localizes to glia in corpus callosum. Some immunostained glia are strongly stained whereas others are unstained (A-C). The round nuclei and scant cytoplasm of some stained cells are characteristic of Olgs.
