Chronic Stress Increases the Plasmalemmal Distribution of the Norepinephrine Transporter and the Coexpression of Tyrosine Hydroxylase in Norepinephrine Axons in the Prefrontal Cortex
J. Neurosci. Miner et al. 26: 1571

Supplemental data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Figure S1, supplemental material. A model to account for the stress-induced alterations in NE terminals in the rat PFC. NE axons in the PFC of naïve laboratory rats appear to exist in a low activity state in which the majority of NET is localized to the cytoplasm and TH is not trafficked from the LC at detectable levels. The persistent increase in LC cellular activity that has been associated with chronic stress enhances both the plasmalemmal distribution of NET and the axonal trafficking of TH.
