Sensory Experience Alters Cortical Connectivity and Synaptic Function Site Specifically
J. Neurosci. Cheetham et al. 27: 3456

Supplemental Data

Files in this Data Supplement:

  • supplemental material - Supplementary Video Legend Animation of the volume-rendered section of dendritic (orange, Alexa Fluor 568) and axonal (green, Alexa Fluor 488) segments shown in Fig. 7A. The view first approaches a putative synapse (black arrowhead in Fig. 7A). The presynaptic varicosity and postsynaptic spine appear to be intermingled. Overlap of the fluorescence signal from presynaptic and postsynaptic elements was 1.29 μm in the x-y plane and extended over 13 contiguous slices in the z-axis. This contrasts with the following fly-through between a dendritic spine and an axonal varicosity (white arrowhead in Fig. 7A) that are approximately 0.6 μm apart.
