Re: Chloride channel inhibition

This very interesting investigation describes the effects of knock- out of the function of a chloride channel in mice. The results can be compared with those associated with xenobiotic chloride channel inhibitors. Classical examples are hexachlorophene and phenoxy acid herbices. The former causes nervous system edema in excessive doses and the latter convulsions and myokymia.

This seems to show that the knock-out mouse model simulates at least some of effects by external inhibitors. One wonders whether the convulsions could have been triggered more easily than in controls by experimental epileptogens.
