Perhaps a further neurochemical comment can be made to this elegant mechanistic study in a specific case of dysmyelination.
The conclusions mostly agree with findings on myelin protein patterns in cases of some human inborn errors of metabolism (Palo and Savolainen, 1973). The problem in my study was that most cases also presented reactive gliosis (Crome and Stern, 1967) which necessarily hampers neuronal funct...
Perhaps a further neurochemical comment can be made to this elegant mechanistic study in a specific case of dysmyelination.
The conclusions mostly agree with findings on myelin protein patterns in cases of some human inborn errors of metabolism (Palo and Savolainen, 1973). The problem in my study was that most cases also presented reactive gliosis (Crome and Stern, 1967) which necessarily hampers neuronal functions and myelination. Therefore, it is very interesting that a highly specific interefering factor can be found.
Oligodendrogial metabolomics could thus deserve much more investigation.
