About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover picture: Three different maps of visual cortical activity from one subject, using anatomical and functional magnetic resonance imaging. The same hemisphere is shown in triplicate, from a posterior lateral vantage point in cortically "inflated" format. In this format, the location of gyri and sulci in the actual folded brain are coded light gray and dark gray, respectively. The activity map on the right shows visual areas V1, V2, V3, and V3A, based on retinotopic field sign. The middle activity map shows retinotopic polar angle, including the distinctive upper field representation (red) in V3A. The leftmost activity map shows regions of prominent sensitivity to visual motion, including MT (bottom) and V3A (top). For details, see the article by Tootell et al. in this issue (pp. 7060-7078).
