About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover picture: The majority of F-actin stain, localized to the frog motor nerve terminal, is external to synaptic vesicle clusters. Top panel, Bands of F-actin stain (red) separate the linear array of synaptic vesicle clusters (green). Bottom panels, F-actin is coextensive with a synaptic vesicle marker and is completely overlapping with beta -fodrin. A Z-series of confocal images was resampled along a specified line to yield a longitudinal view of a synaptic site. Each column of three images shows reconstructed line scans of a synaptic site stained in green with either a synaptic vesicle marker (left, center) or beta -fodrin (right) and in red with markers of either acetylcholine receptors (left) or F-actin (center, right). Bottom panels represent overlays of images from the pairs of stain. For details, see the article by Dunaevsky and Connor in this issue (pages 6007-6012).
