About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover picture: Immunohistochemical localization of GABA and alpha 7 nAChR expression in cultured hippocampal neurons. Phase-contrast cells dissociated from P5 rat hippocampus and cultured for 8 days in vitro are shown. Anti-GABA antibody (green) labeled the large neuron but not the smaller neurons. An antibody against the alpha 7 subunit of nAChR (red) labeled the large neuron and one small neuron. The anti-GABA image and anti-alpha 7 image were superimposed, and the areas of overlap appear yellow. Inset, Enlarged views of the boxed area. A synaptic localization of alpha 7 subunits is suggested by the hotspots of alpha 7 subunits on GABAergic neurites. For details, see the article by Liu et al. in this issue (pages 5660-5669).
