About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover picture: A confocal photomicrograph of substance P receptor immunoreactivity (yellow) and substance P immunoreactivity (violet) in the spinal dorsal horn of the rat after intraplantar injection of capsaicin. The electrophysiological recordings shown are responses of single dorsal horn neurons evoked by mechanical stimuli before (left) and after (right) capsaicin in controls (top pair) and in animals pretreated intrathecally with the substance P-saporin (SP-SAP) conjugate. After injection of capsaicin (right panels), responses to mechanical stimuli increased in control animals (top) but not in those pretreated with SP-SAP (bottom). For details, see the article by Khasabov et al. in this issue (pages 9086-9098).
