About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover picture: Immunofluorescent labeling of mixed spinal cord cultures shows astrocytes (labeled for GFAP; green), a motor neuron (labeled with SMI-32; red), and nuclei (stained with Hoechst 33258; blue). These cultures recapitulate in a highly simplified system certain of the key constituents of the in vivo spinal cord and permit elucidation of interactions between motor neurons and astrocytes that may be relevant to pathogenesis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. For details, see the article by Rao et al. in this issue (pages 2627-2633).
