Cover picture: A schematic three-dimensional reconstruction of the pattern of c-fos activation in the forebrains of mice exposed to an innately aversive ultrasonic stimulus. The stimulus primarily elicits flight behavior (blue shading); however, if the animal is stressed, freezing behavior is elicited instead (red shading). The intensity of the shading reflects the relative intensity of c-fos in the different brain regions. Preferential activation of c-fos during freezing primarily occurs in the lateral septum ventral and medial hypothalamus. For details, see the article by Mongeau et al. in this issue. (pages 3855-3868).
