Cover picture: An in vivo two-photon targeted patch
recording from a lentivirus-infected pyramidal neuron
in the rat barrel cortex. The overlay of two imaging
channels (red and green) shows a whole-cell
recording from a green fluorescent protein (GFP)-
labeled neuron (orange color) with a patch pipette
filled with the fluorescent dye Alexa 594 (red tip in the
schematic). The drawing illustrates the objective of a
two-photon laser-scanning microscope above a small
craniotomy. The patch pipette was guided under
visual control onto the infected GFP-expressing
neuron. For details, see the article by Brecht in this
issue
(pages 9223-9227).
