Cover picture:
This image is taken from a series of
paintings based on an image of the hippocampus of
fosGFP transgenic mice after sensory stimulation. The
painting belongs to a larger body of work inspired by
the textures, artificial luminescence, and
typographical character of imaging fosGFP
fluorescence in the brain. Color and texture are
overlaid to create the sense of depth and complexity
issue found in living brain tissue. Oil on canvas, 3 X 4 ft.
Artist: Joana Ricou (www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/
