Cover legend: Lateral three-dimensional view of white matter tracts from the dorsal and ventral subregions of the human lateral premotor cortex. Blue tracts represent white matter connections from dorsal premotor cortex; red tracts show white matter pathways from ventral premotor cortex. Diffusion imaging tractography was used to subdivide human premotor cortex in vivo based on its pattern of anatomical connections. The dorsal and ventral parts of human premotor cortex are shown to form part of distinct parieto-frontal circuits, similar to those previously reported in macaque monkey. The anatomical subdivision of premotor cortex is found to fit well with divisions based on functional imaging data.
