Cover legend: Proopiomelanocortin neurons in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus expressing channelrhodopsin-2/mCherry fusion protein. Proopiomelanocortin neurons regulate energy homeostasis, and expression of channelrhodopsin-2 in these neurons allows cell-type-specific photostimulation of somata and axonal projections. Cell-type-specific expression was achieved with a Cre-conditional adeno-associated virus. For more information, see the article by Atasoy et al. in this issue (pages 7025–7030).
