Samples of serum were obtained from five patients diagnosed with LEMS based on initial CMAP amplitude in abductor pollicus brevis muscles and percentage increment after 15 sec of voluntary maximal contraction (Post-exercise). Three of the patients had small-cell lung cancer (SCLC); at the time of this study no cancer had been detected in two of the patients. Normal CMAP amplitude in abductor pollicus brevis is ∼7 mV (Kimura, 1989).
