  • Animals received an injection of PBS or CVF on P6, underwent HI lesioning on P7, and were killed on P12. Brains were removed, frozen, sectioned, and stained with cresyl violet. Regional tissue volumes (mm2) were measured, and derived lesion volume and percent damage values were calculated as described in Materials and Methods. CVF pretreatment reduced tissue damage (n = 16-17 per group; p<0.02; two-way ANOVA).
