  • For slow-wave sleep and REM sleep, the latency to enter the first episode, its duration (both in minutes), and the percentage of time spent in the state during the first hour after 6 hr of sleep deprivation are shown for WT (+/+; +/+) and DKO (−/−; −/−) mice (number of mice in parentheses). For DKO mice, the latency period for entering slow-wave sleep is significantly prolonged (p = 0.02), and the time spent in slow-wave sleep during the first hour is significantly reduced in DKO (p = 0.02).
