Since aphidicolin and ara-C, both well-known replicative DNA polymerase inhibitors, arrested the cells in the G1 phase [34,35], the action of MGDG/MGMG probably resulted from the inhibition of the replicative polymerases. MGDG/MGMG must inhibit the cell growth by blocking the primary step of DNA replication, which occurs by influencing the replicative DNA polymerases.
