Simulation of different three-dimensional polymer models of interphase chromosomes compared to experiments–an evaluation and review framework of the 3D genome organization
2019, Seminars in Cell and Developmental BiologyCitation Excerpt :A looped folding topology was suggested by electron micrographs of chromosome spreads [59,60]. Loops of 90 kbp tightly bound to a postulated nuclear matrix were proposed from reversible relaxation of superhelical loops with ethidium and halo formation [61–63]. Since replication was taking place in these halos, Pardoll et al. [64] and Pienta & Coffey [65] postulated that interphase chromosomes again consisted of 90 kbp, nuclear matrix-bound loops and that furthermore during mitosis, approx. 18 loops should aggregate to a rosette.
