Repressive Gene Regulation Synchronizes Development with Cellular Metabolism
2019, CellCitation Excerpt :However, slowing metabolism allowed a small but significant number of sev mutant cells to become R7 photoreceptors (Figure 1G). Importantly, because the sev mutant makes no protein products (Banerjee et al., 1987), rescue of the mutant phenotype was not simply due to more functional Sev protein molecules being present in slowly metabolizing cells. We also examined mutations that affect formation of sensory bristles for evidence of metabolic interactions.
