Inhibiting glycolysis rescues memory impairment in an intellectual disability Gdi1-null mouse
2021, Metabolism: Clinical and ExperimentalCitation Excerpt :For the time-course analysis, the total observation time was portioned into 6 periods of 10 min. The standard hidden-platform version of the water maze was done as previously described [24,25]. Briefly, the test included an acquisition phase (18 trials, 6/day, inter-trial time 30–40 min) followed by a reversal phase during which the platform was moved to the opposite position (12 trials, 6/day).

2016, Neurobiology of Learning and MemoryA Navigation Analysis Tool (NAT) to assess spatial behavior in open-field and structured mazes
2013, Journal of Neuroscience MethodsCitation Excerpt :Also, the ability to bind observations across multiple spatial learning tasks (which produce heterogeneous data in terms of performance indicators, protocols, maze shapes, and task complexity) is a necessary condition toward a unified view of the mechanisms underpinning spatial cognition. During the last decades, these considerations have given rise to a substantial effort to conceive automated analysis tools and data management systems (e.g. Bradley et al., 2005; Drai and Golani, 2001; Wolfer and Lipp, 1992; see Section 4 for a Discussion on existing solutions). This paper presents a Navigation Analysis Tool (NAT) that was explicitly designed to cope with large behavioral datasets, and to draw coherent interpretations across multiple spatial learning tasks (e.g. involving both open-field and structured mazes).
Impaired TrkB receptor signaling contributes to memory impairment in APP/PS1 mice
2012, Neurobiology of AgingCitation Excerpt :It is notable that the effects of manipulating TrkB receptors were most obvious during the acquisition of spatial navigation, which involves not only hippocampal-dependent spatial memory but also adaptation of an effective coping strategy (thigmotaxis), which is more closely related to frontal cortical functions. In contrast, TrkB receptor manipulation did not affect search bias which is considered the most selective measure for hippocampal-dependent spatial memory (Wolfer and Lipp, 1992). It is also worth noting that in APdE9 mice the memory enhancing effect of TrkB.TK was more robust than the memory impairing effect of TrkB.T1.
Growth defects and impaired cognitivebehavioral abilities in mice with knockout for Eif4h, a gene located in the mouse homolog of the williams-beuren syndrome critical region
2012, American Journal of PathologyCitation Excerpt :For exploration tests and water maze test, animals were video-tracked using the EthoVision 2.3 system (Noldus Information Technology, Wageningen, The Netherlands) using an image frequency of 4.2/second. Raw data were transferred to Wintrack 2.4 (http://www.dpwolfer.ch/wintrack)22 for off-line analysis. Statistical computations were done using Statview 5.0 (SAS Institute, Cary, NC).
