Characterization of three cholinergic inputs to the cochlear nucleus
2023, Journal of Chemical NeuroanatomyDescending projections from the inferior colliculus to medial olivocochlear efferents: Mice with normal hearing, early onset hearing loss, and congenital deafness
2017, Hearing ResearchCitation Excerpt :VNTB is a heterogeneous nucleus, both in terms of constituent cells and axonal input. VNTB is known to house inhibitory glycinergic and GABAergic (Helfert et al., 1989; Vetter et al., 1991) cells in addition to the cholinergic MOC efferents (Yao and Godfrey, 1995, 1998, 1997). Projections into the VNTB are similarly heterogeneous, with terminals identified as glutamatergic (Billups, 2005; Blaesse et al., 2005), noradrenergic (Wang and Robertson, 1997), and serotonergic (Woods and Azeredo, 1999).
