2015, NeuropharmacologyCitation Excerpt :Neuronal homopentameric cation channel α7nAChRs are highly permeable to Ca2+ (Berg and Conroy, 2002). α7nAChRs modulate Ca2+ homeostasis and acetylcholine release with high binding affinity to α-bungarotoxin (α-BTX) (Marks and Collins, 1982; Schoepfer et al., 1990). α7nAChRs are found to express in human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y and neurons of hippocampus and cortex (Nagele et al., 2002; Peng et al., 1997).
