Abstract
The recent paper of J.A. De Carlos and D.D.M. O'Leary (“Growth and Targeting of Subplate Axons and the Establishment of Major Cortical Pathways,” J Neurosci, April 1992, 12:1194“1211) inadvertently omitted reference to a preliminary report of the work of C. Blakemore and Z. Molnar (“Factors Involved in the Establishment of Specific Interconnections between Thalamus and Cerebral Cortex,” Cold Spring Harb Symp Quant Biol, 1990, 55:491”504), which reported that outgrowth of axons from corresponding regions of the cortical subplate and the developing thalamus is synchronized and that these axon arrays meet near the internal capsule.
