Cover picture: Wild-type cells (stained with an anti-β-galactosidase antibody; green fluorescence) in a p35 mutant background migrate to the top half of the cortex to form a "supercortex." Normal myelination of the supercortex is revealed by 2',3'-cyclic nucleotide 3'-phosphodiesterase (CNPase) antibody staining of thin fibers (red fluorescence), whereas abnormal thick fiber fascicles normally present in the brains of p35 mutant mice remain underneath. Additional analysis of these p35 mutant/wild-type chimeric brains demonstrates that p35 exerts both cell-autonomous and non cell-autonomous effects on cortical neuron migration and layering.
