Cover picture: The true morphology of astrocytes differs considerably from the morphology revealed by antibodies against glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), the most common astrocytic marker (red and yellow). Three-dimensional rendering of the molecular layer of the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus after entorhinal cortex lesioning shows a Lucifer yellow-filled reactive astrocyte of a distinct bushy appearance with a multitude of fine processes (green) that are not revealed by GFAP immunostaining.
