- supplemental material - Supplementary Figure. 80-90% of variance in the PPD of synaptic responses can be explained by variance in the PPD of exocytotic capacitance responses. To assess the presynaptic contribution to the depression of post-synaptic responses, we compared the recovery from PPD of capacitance and EPSC measurements by linear regression analysis. We plotted the amount of PPD measured using exocytotic capacitance changes against the amount of PPD measured using paired recordings for each inter-stimulus interval from 0.1 to 3 s. Linear regressions on these pairings yielded the following correlation coefficients: A) r2 = 0.91 for the correlation between PPD of capacitance changes in rods vs. PPD of EPSCs in rod-ON bipolar cell pairs, B) r2 = 0.82 for the correlation between PPD of capacitance changes in cones vs. PPD of EPSCs in cone-ON bipolar cell pairs, C) r2 =0.77 for rod capacitance changes vs. rod-OFF bipolar cell pairs, D) r2 =0.90 for cone capacitance changes vs. cone-OFF bipolar cell pairs, E) r2 =0.81 for rod capacitance changes vs. rod-horizontal cell pairs, and F) r2 =0.85 for cone capacitance changes vs. cone-horizontal cell pairs.
