Cover legend: Three locust antennal lobe projection neurons (two in green, one in red) stained in the same preparation by intracellular iontophoresis of Alexa Fluor and imaged with confocal microscopy. Each projection neuron sends 8-12 radial dendrites that each terminate in one of 1000 glomeruli. All of the glomeruli sampled by each projection neuron are coplanar, and the 1000 glomeruli together fill an approximately spherical volume. Each glomerulus is ~35 µm in diameter.
