About the Cover
Cover image

Cover legend: A rod-shaped monocyte patrolling the cerebral microvasculature. This type of cell crawls on the endothelium, is recruited in greater numbers during endotoxemia by a mechanism involving proinflammatory cytokines and angiopoietin-2, and can cross the blood–brain barrier to give rise to perivascular macrophages. The image shows a GFP+ bone marrow-derived monocyte (green) in a brain section stained for CD31 (red, capillaries), Iba1 (white, perivascular microglia), and DNA (blue, nuclei).
