About the Cover
Cover image

Cover legend: Artistic composition illustrating neural circuits by which the infralimbic cortex (ILCx) modulates dopamine neuron activity. Electrical stimulation of the ILCx activates excitatory afferents to the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNST). The ILCx–BNST projection may provide sufficient excitatory influence to activate the subpopulation of BNST neurons projecting to the ventral tegmental area. The cover represents: (1) electrophysiological traces showing a characteristic burst of a dopamine neuron after the stimulation of the ILCx and (2) photomicrographs of BNST sections artificially colored. For more information, see the article by Massi et al. in this issue for details (pp 10496–10508).
