Cover legend: Sensory hairs on cockroaches detect air movements and drive escape behavior. Knocking out the transcription factor Engrailed (En), which is expressed in a subset of the sensory neurons innervating the hairs, changes the axonal arborization and synaptic outputs of the neurons and changes the cockroach's direction of escape in response to posterior air puffs.
