Cover legend: Scanning electron microscope image shows the ciliated endings of olfactory sensory neurons, which cover the turbinates of the nasal passage and are directly exposed to the external environment. Proper protein trafficking into these distinct subcellular compartments is essential since cilia serve as the site for odorant detection.
