Cover legend: The first honey bee TRP channel (AmHsTRPA) that is necessary for sensing high temperature and noxious compounds is revealed. AmHsTRPA was originally generated by duplication of other TRP channels, and then gained thermal- and chemical-responsive properties by neofunctionalization.
