Cover legend: The complex dendritic arbors of the Drosophila class IV multidendritic neurons (green) are shown overlaid with the much simpler dendrite arbors of the class I neurons (magenta). The microtubule severing protein Kat-60L1 is required specifically in the somatodendritic compartment of the class IV neurons late in larval development. Kat-60L1 increases the number of growing microtubules and stabilizes the terminal branches of the class IV dendrites, thereby playing an essential role in the generation of their distinctive morphology and function.
