This image shows specialized functional domains along myelinated axons in mouse sciatic nerve. Immunostaining for neurofascin (blue) is present in the axolemma at nodes of Ranvier (strong staining of NF186) and in paranodal glia (weak staining of NF155). Immunolabeling of contactin-associated protein (green) reveals paranodes, and immuolabeling of voltage-gated K⁺ channels (red) shows juxtaparanodes.
