The editors wish to express concern about the article by Haihong Chen, Hao Ji, Ming Zhang, Zude Liu, Lifeng Lao, Chao Deng, Jianwei Chen and Guibin Zhong, entitled “An Agonist of the Protective Factor SIRT1 Improves Functional Recovery and Promotes Neuronal Survival by Attenuating Inflammation after Spinal Cord Injury” published in The Journal of Neuroscience (2017) 37:2916–2930.

Two panels within Figure 10A, “WT” and “WT + DMSO”, appear to be more similar than would be expected. The editors have reviewed the raw data and observed apparent duplication of images under different conditions.

The editors have shared these concerns with the corresponding author's institution, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and will await the results of an investigation to determine appropriate next steps.
